Phnom Penh – The General Department of Immigration has issued a clarification regarding a viral video circulating on social media, specifically on Facebook, on September 17, 2025. The video, posted by the account Heng Heng, claimed that the border gate had reopened and warned against the removal of barbed wire, suggesting the move was a deception.
The department clarified that the video in question was uploaded from the Facebook page Laily Poipet, which is an account belonging to a journalist from PNN TV. The footage dates back to June 11, 2025, and shows live coverage at the Stung Bot International Border Gate Police Station.
The Immigration Department also noted that the Facebook account Heng Heng is a personal account with no official basis or credibility. The department condemned the spread of old footage on social media with malicious intent, which aims to sow confusion among the public and distort facts.
The Director-General of the General Department of Immigration reaffirmed that, as of September 17, 2025, all Cambodia-Thailand border gates and regional crossings remain closed. No border reopening or removal of barriers has taken place at this time.
The department emphasized the importance of verifying information before sharing and urged the public to rely on official sources for updates on border status and security matters.
